Renmaru Miyabido, a high school student, received an alarming message on his phone on May 20th, 2012, informing him that his friend Myu Takae would die atop the abandoned Integral building at noon. Meanwhile, Narumi Mishima, a police detective, receives another letter, this time from her former classmate Makoto Yukizumi, asking her to spare Myu’s life. According to the message, Myu’s death will result in the success of the ‘Second Eclipse Plan,’ a conspiracy by unknown conspirators to destroy time. Renmaru and Narumi rush to Integral and soon find themselves in a race against time to save Myu – and potentially the world. 12Riven: The Climinal of Integral is the fourth installment of the Infinity series and a science fiction graphic novel. The plot is recounted from both Renmaru and Narumi’s points of view, and the player takes over the roles of both characters at various points throughout the game. Reading text layered on visual backgrounds and making decisions that affect the story’s outcome comprise the gameplay. There are several possible endings, but only one “true ending.” The PSP port arrived a year after the PS2 and Windows versions and included new CG event scenes, re-recorded voice-acting, and a re-recorded soundtrack. Due to complaints regarding the quality of the original PS2 release, some of the older CG events were redrawn.
