“Shin Megami Tensei – Devil Summoner” is an action role-playing game and also is the first version to be released under the Devil Summoner subseries. The game is set in a modern city of a Japanese town with a story about a college student dying at the hands of a demon and his soul tied to the body of another character. His mission is to investigate the origin of the demons in this town. The game also carries some detective elements. Immersing into the game, you will control the character with the personality defined by your choices. There are two ways to adjust the playing angle. It is a first-person view through 3D dungeons and navigating around the character’s main house according to the 3D world map. The active route of the character will be displayed automatically on the map located in the menu bar. You can buy items, weapons, armour to treat or store from shops located throughout the city. Going to places called Tarot houses, you will receive different tasks. Complete them to receive your rewards. You can also earn money from quests, which is used to summon demons or buy items from shops.
