The Legend of Heroes III – Song of the Ocean

The third and last part of Nihon Falcom’s role-playing game (RPG) trilogy for the PSP, Song of the Ocean, is a remake of the popular games in the early nineties. Despite the number 3, which indicates that it is the third installment of the Gagharv Trilogy, this game is a remake of Umi no Oriuta, the fifth game in the series. This chapter is a self-contained story in the realm of Weltluna, the heart of an ancient civilization called the Water Tribe. Completing this game brings the Gagharv trilogy to a satisfying conclusion. It features between 30 and 50 hours of gameplay and borrows elements from several of the series’ established tropes and structures. You take control of Forto, who embarks on a journey in which he searches for a piece of music left behind by a famous composer. Thanks to the enhanced combat system in this game, you can switch out members of your party while they are engaged in combat. You will come across a wide cast of characters along your journey, and up to six of them will be eligible to join your party. If you have either of the prior two Legend of Heroes games saved to your memory card, you qualify for an additional bonus in this installment of the Legend of Heroes series. You will come across locations here and there, allowing you to teleport randomly to unique parts of the map. There, you will be able to form alliances with characters from earlier entries in the series and participate in optional quests to earn experience, money, and goods. This new feature is intended to honor players who have been following the string from the very beginning.
