Tomb Raider – Anniversary

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary is a graphical recreation of the original Tomb Raider with a more sophisticated graphics engine. It follows the same core plot, albeit with certain cutscenes, and most of the dialogue has been enlarged or changed differently. Locations are the same as in the original version and are accessed in the same order, but have been redesigned with different layouts and mostly completely different puzzles that allow for the implementation of new moves introduced in Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend: swinging on Ropes and using a grappling hook at specific points. In this version, puzzles are often more centered on acrobatics, with ledges featuring significantly as a level design element, requiring combinations of jumping and shimmying across them to access sections. This gameplay almost entirely replaces the original’s key-retrieval and block-pushing problems. Combat is similar to the first game; however, aiming must be activated manually. Some boss confrontations have been separated into separate stages rather than being part of the adventure, like in the original game. These bouts may have puzzle-solving components and frequently necessitate the usage of Lara’s new “adrenaline dodge” skill, which somewhat slows time when the opponent charges at her while in an “enraged” condition. Some sequences necessitate the player’s participation in real-time activities. The Wii version has motion controls as well as some puzzles that are exclusive to that platform.
