Samurai Warriors: State of War is a continuation of the Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors series. It is a hand-held adaptation of the Samurai Warriors series. The player assumes control of one of 19 great Japanese warriors from Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors Xtreme Legends, fighting in wide-open battlefields and gigantic castles packed with lethal traps during the Sengoku period of medieval Japan, which is considered to be the bloodiest in the history of Japan. A wide variety of traditional weaponry is available, ranging from swords and crossbows to sickles and longbows. In addition, players can utilize magical spells to decimate large numbers of foes and unlock additional special skills by discovering secret scrolls. There are also 230 individual officers to fight against and alongside, each with advantages and disadvantages. The highest-ranking officers are the most powerful and complex to kill officers; therefore, prioritize taking them out first. Are 37 stages spread across 22 unique maps created just for the PSP? Additionally, when using the Ad-Hoc, it is possible to play any of the two modes wirelessly. The first mode is called Vanguard, and to win, players must eliminate all five enemy captains.
