PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe is a strategic tower defense game. This PSP version, later made PS Vita compatible, is the first for the console and includes the original PS3 game PixelJunk Monsters (Tiki Island) as well as the DLC PixelJunk Monsters Encore (Toki Island and Tum Tum Tum Island). This edition also includes an entirely new location named Gati Gati Island and eleven new levels, increasing the total number of groups to 47. It also has two new towers, one of which automatically upgrades existing buildings, a new adversary, a new boss, and music and concept art galleries accessible through the Tiki Hut in the main menu. The Challenge mode is also a first for the series. Additional mission tasks are available to gain a medal and access bonus goodies. Beating stages without utilizing specific towers or upgrades, or finishing levels with a specified number of gems remaining, are examples of objectives. A two-player co-op mode is accessible online or through the PSP’s Ad-Hoc mode.
