The first installment in the Smash Court Tennis series for the PSP brand, Smash Court Tennis 3, is the sequel to the PlayStation 2 video game known simply as Smash Court 2. Players can take control of 16 of the best tennis players in the world, both established and rising talents, such as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Justine Henin, and Anna Kournikova, to name just a few. A wide range of personalization is available, including the uniforms the participants wear and the pieces of equipment they employ while competing. Several game modes are available, ranging from Exhibition and Tutorial to minigames incorporating tennis bombs and a Pac-Man game with a tennis theme. There is also a career mode available called the Pro Tour Mode. In this mode, players compete to become number one in tennis by obtaining new skills throughout the game, using experience points to make their character more robust, and practicing before matches. There is a capacity for multiplayer play through Ad-Hoc, where players may examine their rating compared to other players. In addition, users can compete against a buddy head-to-head using a single UMD in head-to-head games and minigames. Ad-Hoc is just one of the many multiplayer modes available.
